Luke is the 10-year old son of Tim Siegel. For those of you who know Tim, you’ll know this fundraiser is very important. For those of you who do not know Tim, please take a few minutes and read his story below. And please consider supporting this event by purchasing a raffle ticket with a chance to win a Trip for Two to the US Open Tennis Tournament over Labor Day Weekend.
Tim is probably the best player to come out of the New Orleans area in the last half century. He grew up playing junior tennis in New Orleans and won a pair of national junior titles, as well as leading Archbishop Rummel to 3 state championships. Tim went on to play tennis at the University of Arkansas, where he was a two-time All American. He then played on the ATP Tour, where he achieved a top 100 ranking in doubles, having reached the Quarterfinals at the US Clay Court Championships, the 3rd Round at the Australian and US Opens and the 2nd Round at Wimbledon.
Most recently Tim was head coach of the Texas Tech Men’s Tennis Team, where he lead the Red Raiders to 12 NCAA tournament appearances, including 2 doubles teams in the NCAA Finals in 4 years. Tim retired in 2015 to become tennis coach for the Lubbock Independent School District. "This decision will allow me to spend more time with my family.” The irony of that decision would present itself less than 3 weeks later.
Tim’s son Luke was a bright, athletic and energetic young boy, following in his father’s footsteps of becoming a star athlete. On Tuesday, July 29, 2015 nine year old Luke Siegel was involved in an accident while playing near his home in Lubbock, Texas that resulted in severe head trauma, a collapsed lung and numerous other life threatening complications. His life, as well as that of his family (Tim & Jenny Siegel and sisters Alex, Kate and Ellie), will never be the same. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to help the Siegel family with the astronomical costs associated with caring for Luke on a 24 hour basis. Raffle tickets are $100/each.
Only 500 tickets are available for sale, so you have a 1 in 500 chance of winning!
Please consider posting this on your Facebook and Twitter pages and forward out to all in your tennis and social circles. Thank you. Tim and his family will be most grateful.
100% of the proceeds will be contributed directly to help cover Luke’s hospital and rehab expenses.
Your confirmation number is your raffle ticket entry.
